Ok just to clarify not the supermarket, but somewhere equally as cold, the country.
Ever since I learnt what the northern lights exactly were I’ve been dying to get myself to see them, so when me and my boyfriend both decided that we wanted to go on an Iceland holiday I was pretty much made up.
Before I started my research about Iceland I was pretty clueless about all the country had to offer, for instance I had no idea that Iceland was home to geothermal spas. Despite reading mixed reviews I am curious to go and check out the Blue Lagoon. I love the idea of going swimming outside, being surrounded by snow and enjoying the warmth of naturally heated water whilst getting covered in lovely minerals. If I don’t come back with better skin I’ll be disappointed.
Another item high on our to do list is the golden circle tour which allows you to see Icelands 2nd biggest glacier and the Geysir geothermal area where the Strokkur geyser shoots a column of water up to 30 metres (98 ft.) into the air every 4-8 minutes in a thrilling display of nature’s forces.
And of course the main attraction is hopefully going to be seeing the beautiful aurora borealis. I’m praying for good weather and perfect viewing conditions.
I booked our trip through Travel Republic and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were and how good the hotel reviews were – I guess the proof will be in actually being there. But so far I’m incredibly excited!
If anyone has any must see attractions or has any ‘you-must-eat-here’ recommendations I would love to hear them! The more research I do the more I imagine I will want to write about it so it would be great to hear any ‘must-eat-and-drink’ places to visit.
